Job Description

Job Summary: 

To provide professional and credible legal advice and legal problems are avoided, risk is mitigated and organisational effectiveness is enhanced. Providing efficient support to EXCO by developing legal compliance strategy and regulatory work in the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• To vet contracts, internal policies and other legal documents in order to ensure legislative compliance, aligned to organisational strategy.
• To develop / draft contracts and review contracts developed externally and incorporate recommended changes in order to protect the interests  including MOUs, SLAs and legal letters to ensure appropriate compliance.
• Drafting, reviewing and amending various commercial contracts, lease agreements and property purchase /rental agreements, loans, consultancy
agreements, IT and supply agreements,
• Negotiating disputes with third parties and conducting legal due diligence investigations on various business transactions and transactional agreements.
• To assist with interpretation of contracts clauses and interpret legislation in order to promote contract governance and ensure compliance.
• Assessing and managing key risks and liabilities in contracts and service level agreements.
• Ensures the completeness and accuracy of contracts, including monitoring all related liabilities and third-party contracts.
• Assist with and lead contract negotiations
• Draft RFPs (request for proposals) and review third - party RFPs and assess proposals before submission.
• To provide professional, written and oral legal advice to the executives and other offices (HR, Finance, Internal Audit & Risk, Procurement, IT , Health &
Safety to reasonably address complex legal contracts and legal policy issues.

Education and Qualifications : 

LLB degree is a prerequisite.
• A management qualification such as an MBA will be advantageous (NQF level 9 and above)
• Registration with the Charted Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA) as a Charted Secretatary or a Charted Governance Professional will be an advantage
• Must be an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa
